Can we facilitate volunteering of corporate employees in any location ?
Sure.
While so far we have facilitated volunteering in about 50 districts, we have started developing a national network of NGOs and have talked with NGOs from 512 districts.
You can preety much depend on us for getting volunteering opportunities from about 200 of these districts.

Is this a free service ?
If you are an individual corporate employee keen on volunteering, we offer free service.

What is core competency volunteering ?
It is volunteering by professionals with expertise in specific discipline of management.

Why is core competency volunteering an important area ?
Most of the NGOs are formed by people with strong social and developmental agenda and the founders are very passionate about their focus area. Most of them have community / issue experience and for them, work is many times more important than documentation and audit, or for them branding and patent is a strict no no.

indiavolunteerportal.org believes that the combination of passion of an NGO leader and management application of a corporate professional will help us develop faster as a country and therefore, for us, this is a special area.

Can we have an example where core competency volunteering will really make a difference ?
There is lot of debate whether NGOs should patent their ideas, programmes, services.
Most of the NGO leaders feel its a strict no no, something which doesnt deserve even discussions, because they rightly believe that great ideas need mass scale replication.

But they must realise that someone may get patent for your idea and then you need to take a permission to implement your own idea and at times, it may come with cost repercussions.

Can we help corporates in areas like their community day ?
Sure.
We can facilitate corporates on their india community days, with as many as 50 events on a single day.

Our experience
We have handled / audited over 150 000 volunteering hours before the launch of indiavolunteerportal.org from corporates. Of this, about 125 000 hours have come during the period April 2008 to August 2009. This volunteering has come majorly from volunteers of Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Citi.
